FORMER pupils of Stroud Technical School will return to their old stomping ground to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its amalgamation with Marling.

More than 90 ex-pupils are expected to gather as the Old Boys Association gather for a special dinner to celebrate a milestone in the school’s history.

The event is being held at the Whitminster Inn on Friday October 2.

A vintage 1970s bus will be transporting old boys to the event, which is being held from 7-10pm in the Orchard marquee.

Dignitaries attending include the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire Dame Janet Trotter DBE, with a guest speaker appearance from old boy and distinguished FA referee Brian Stevens Stroud Technical was formed in 1944 and later merged with Marling School in September 1965.

The Stroud Technical School Old Boys' Association (S.T.S.O.B.A.) meet once a year, with its membership in excess of 320 and still growing.

Last year’s event was a huge success, with over 58 attendees in 2014.

Tickets cost £29 or £27 and are available from the Secretary, David Boulton.
