THE bar manager of The Bear Inn in Bisley is to exchange pulling pints for running shoes when she takes part in the Bournemouth half marathon.
Claire Smith, 36, whose 11-year-old daughter Megan has type one diabetes, will run in aid of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The condition means Megan’s pancreas no longer produces the insulin needed to survive so needs to replace the missing insulin.
“Megan has learnt to live with diabetes and is very good at controlling her own diet but I wanted to do this run to raise awareness,” Claire said.
“Villagers and regulars at The Bear Inn in Bisley have been fantastic and I should also say a big thanks to our main sponsor from Stroud – EZ Vape UK.”
Claire has raised over £700 and has a target of £1000.
