A STREET collection set up to raise funds for those caught up in the refugee crisis across Europe and the Middle East was given a massive boost by a mystery donor.

The collection on Saturday, September 19 by Cirencester’s Christian Aid Group, saw members of the group rattle their collection boxes on the streets of the town and they raised around £1500.

And following the collection a woman who wishes to remain anonymous gave a extra £1500 to the group.

“You never know how much is going to be raised, you never know how the public are going to be, it has been amazing, it really has,” said Cirencester Christian Aid Group Co-ordinato, Juliette Harris.

The proceeds of the collection are to be given to Christian Aid’s Refugee Crisis Appeal, which supports both partner agencies of the group who provide emergency relief to those forced from their homes by the conflicts in Syria and Iraq in Europe and the Middle East.
