A FUNDRAISER from Tetbury is planning on clowning around all month for the Save the Children Refugee Crisis Appeal.

Beki Aldam from Tetbury is trying to raise £500 for the children’s charity by committing to wearing a clown costume every day of October if she reaches her target.

Having been inspired to help refugees suffering during the current crisis, Beki decided more needed to be done so is raising money to support charity workers on the ground in places like Syria.

She held a coffee morning in Tetbury that raised £486 for Calais Refugee Solidarity group which helps refugees on the Calais border but felt the need to do more.

“I have a clown suit I bought at a festival and thought I would put it to good use,” she said.

“I have a one-year old daughter so can’t go out to Calais at the moment but want to do everything I can to help.

“I used to work for Save the Children; it’s one of the charities that really stand out in dealing with the crisis. They’re on the ground in hard to reach places like Syria and their priority is up keeping education.”

Beki’s online JustGiving page received over half of the total required in a couple of days but is still looking for donations.
