CIRENCESTER RFC, still unbeaten under new director of rugby Andy Deacon, face the toughest test of their Gloucester Premier campaign when they travel to league leaders Bristol Saracens on Saturday.

Ciren made it three wins out of three with a hard-fought 24-17 victory in the Forest of Dean against Berry Hill last weekend but early results suggest Deacon's men will have their mettle tested on Saturday.

Cirencester are just a point behind Saracens in fourth place but whereas they have scored 95 points and conceded 40, the prolific table toppers have passed the 200-point barrier in just three outings and conceded only 34.

“It was a fantastic team effort in our first game on the road at Berry Hill which can only boost our young side’s confidence," said Deacon. "This week sees us on the road again to table toppers Bristol Saracens who are flying high at the moment with maximum points and three huge wins.

"We want to maintain our successful start and we will concentrate on making constant progression.

“After winning the opening two home games of the season we travelled to Berry Hill with confidence.

"Historically Berry Hill has not been a happy hunting ground for Cirencester in recent times but this trend was reversed, with a skilful, hardworking performance, and lots of endeavour.

"The confidence these results will give the side and the club as a whole is immeasurable. It will also enhance the club’s reputation as a competitive rugby club in a very tough league.

"As the DOR I am learning more and more about the club and getting to see the players in action, which enables me to plan training sessions more accurately.

"My head coach Matt Carter is working hard to optimise the players' understanding of the game, while player and backs coach James Fisher has really excelled on the pitch.

"I hope the progression made within the club is beginning to filter through to the Cirencester public, who will come to support the teams and the club.

"Perhaps those who have stopped playing can return as the exposure the game is getting at the moment could not be bigger.”

There is a coach going from the club to Bristol for £10. Please call the club if you would like to book.
