A stinger was employed by police pursuing a car in Cirencester in the early hours of this morning.

At 1.30am the police attempted to stop a Peugeot 205 on Cricklade Road, Cirencester.

The vehicle failed to stop and officers from Tri-Force operations team along with local officers pursued the vehicle for around 15 minutes.

The vehicle was 'stung' and eventually brought to a stop. It was then seized by the police.

The driver, a 55 year old male, was arrested for failing to stop and for the possession of offensive weapon and currently remains in police custody assisting with enquiries.

The reason for the driver failing to stop is unknown at this stage.

No one was injured and no other vehicles were damaged.
