IT’S THE ultimate show for foodies and everyone who just loves Autumn and the countryside.

The Malvern Autumn Show offers something for everyone in what is billed as the ultimate harvest festival.

And it is just that – it’s like the harvest shows you went to as a child, just written an awful lot larger.

And that specially applies to one of the hardest-fought sections of the show, the giant vegetable competition.

Marrows that outweigh people, beetroot that stretch out for metres and some thoroughly alarming carrots were stars of the show.

And don’t think it’s just for little old blokes on allotments – Snoop Dogg, the American rap star, once contacted one of the Malvern regulars for advice on how to make his veg grow larger...

The show isn’t just about growing and farming.

Food and drink also plays a large part in it, with displays from Valentine Warner and Mark Diacono to get everyone nice and hungry for the food halls.

Meanwhile, actually growing the stuff wasn’t forgotten as gardening expert Joe Swift gave a number of talks throughout the show.

That’s the good thing about this show – have fun, learn, eat, drink, it’s all here.

Meanwhile the children adored the animal displays and the classic funfair, but if you ferret around (literally in the Countryside Alliance’s tent) you can find all manner of things to interest you.

Old steam engines, classic caravans, some dating back to the 1920s, classic cars going back even further ¬– it’s just great fun for everyone.

Roll on next year.
