LANGUAGES from across Europe were celebrated at Hatherop Castle School at a recent event.

At the European Day of Languages on September 26 many activities took place around such as building mosaics of landmarks from across the globe.

Fencers from the school were on hand to demonstrate the noble Spanish art of fencing and an international café was open with pupils children serving in French and Spanish.

The languages day follows the recent introduction of Spanish at the school from Year 1.

Spanish lesson have begun because the school believes that studying other tongues makes students more employable and opens up opportunities for them worldwide.

The school already has strong links with Spain, with students from Madrid and Bilbao joining its boarding house for up to a year to improve their English.
