MUSIC-lovers are in for a treat this weekend with some top young talent playing in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Alto saxophonist Lydia Kenny, 16, was a finalist in this year’s national Rotary Young Musicians’ Competition and is one of a quintet of performers at the North Cotswolds Rotary Club’s Youth and Music event this Saturday.

St Edwards Church will also host soprano Eyra Norman, 15, daughter of the rotary club’s late member Ron Norman; Cotswold School students Francesca Roxburgh, 17, on clarinet and bassist Jamie Walters, 17; with Daniel Brooks, 14, who is now having lessons at the Royal Academy of Music, on piano.

The performance at 7.30pm will feature classical and light classical works by composers including Mozart, Grieg, Malcolm Arnold, Gary Schocker and von Gluck.

The concert is in aid of Rotary’s own charity Rotary Foundation.

Tickets are £10 (students £5) and are available from the Borzoi Bookshop, Church Street, Stow (01451 830 268) and Christmas Corner, Bourton-on-the-Water (01451 822 622) or on the door.
