FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round
Fairford Town 4 Badshot Lea 2
FAIRFORD TOWN secured a place in Monday's draw for the FA Vase first round proper with a 4-2 second qualifying round win over Badshot Lea on Saturday.
It was far from plain sailing for the Reds in a game that saw two penalties saved as the Combined Counties side came close to taking the game into extra-time.
Lewis Petrie put Fairford ahead on 17 minutes from the penalty spot before Jason Milhench, recalled to the side after suspension, doubled the advantage as Fairford took a 2-0 lead into the break.
After the interval Petrie added a third, again from the penalty spot before Lukas Burt reduced the arrears. Visiting 'keeper Josh Peckham then saved a further spot-kick from Petrie.
The visitors grabbed a goal on 76 minutes via Darren Blake to make it 3-2.
There was a fourth penalty award right at the death but Fairford stopper Ben Mitchell got down low to his right to keep the effort out.
Substitute Lee Smith secured the victory with a sublime free kick deep into added time.
