OVER the weekends of September 20 and 27, the Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Rugby World Cup Activation Area attracted over 200 children to the Gloucester Quays Fanzone.
The Rugby World Cup (RWC) Touch Tournament saw Uruguay beat Australia and Samoa beat South Africa, it was almost as unpredictable as the real tournament.
Nicky Gamble, who organised the activities, said; “A fun morning was had by all who attended and it was great to see ten local clubs get involved.”
Julie Farrier, GRFU volunteering sector head, commented; “Sincere thanks to all the Club Coaches who coached and refereed their squads and to Nicky for administrating both Festivals.
“I’m now looking forward to next weekend (Sunday, October 11) as it will be the turn of the Girls to play some Touch Rugby!
“Please come along 10am to noon and perhaps stay behind and watch some RWC games on the big screen.
“None of these rugby activities would have been possible without our fabulous volunteers.”
If you would like to become involved at a local Rugby Club, please contact Julie Farrier at volunteers@gloucestershirerfu.co.uk for Club details or opportunities within many of our Gloucestershire Clubs.
