LOUIS HARVEY from Malmesbury has secured second place overall in the season-long Honda Cadet championship at the Rissington Kart Club.

Series leader Josh Martin was in an almost unassailable position before the eighth and final round last weekend but 11-year-old Louis needed to consolidate second place and guard against a repeat of the events in 2014 when he lost the runner-up spot after a crash which saw him airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital and pushed him back to fourth in the championship.

Louis drove well to finish second in heat one, setting the fastest lap. Heat two saw him finish fourth despite struggling for front end grip due to the wrong tyre pressures.

After some radical changes to the chassis set-up before heat three, Louis hauled himself from the back of the grid to fourth at the line. That result guaranteed second place in the championship so he was able to relax in the final, from third place on the grid.

He still drove a hard race to cross the line in third.

Preparations have already started for the winter series events and 2016 championships.

Louis would like to thank his sponsors Forces Reunited, Ideal Displays, Powermaxed Racing, Demon Tweeks and his suppliers Shark Motorsport and RPM Race Engines for their support in 2015 and hopes they will support him again in 2016. He is always looking for additional sponsorship and if you are interested please email Louis@louisharvey.com for full details.
