A 34-YEAR-OLD Stonehouse man who head-butted his ex-partner’s new boyfriend, breaking his nose, was warned that he faces “almost inevitable” jail.

Michael Nobes of Severn Road, Stonehouse admitted assaulting Timothy Sim causing him actual bodily harm on July 11, 2014 at a previous hearing and was appearing at Gloucester Crown Court for sentence yesterday.

Nobes, who has a history of domestic violence, was said to have assaulted Mr Sim in his own garden where he was making a rabbit hutch.

After the attack Nobes, who had broken up with Beverley Bishop who was seeing Mr Sim, shouted: “You want to get your nose checked, it’s a bit wonky.”

Defending lawyer Jason Coulter told His Honour Judge Michael Harington: “A pre-sentence report was previously ordered but my client failed to turn up on the right day at Stroud probation office.

“He made a simple mistake and got the wrong day. He thought his appointment was a week later than it was.

“He rang probation on the day he thought he had to attend and was told that it was the previous week and they could not see him. He was appalled at his own stupidness.

“But there is a ten-year history of domestic violence in this case and it is important that an assessment is made of my client before he is sentenced.”

Judge Harington said: “This cannot happen again but it is in the public interest to have a proper assessment of you.

“An immediate custodial sentence is a very real possibility in this case.”

The case was adjourned until November 2 for sentence.
