FOOTBALLERS at Randwick FC will no longer have to change on the stage at the village hall after new changing rooms costing £130,000 were given the go-ahead.

The new facilities will be based next to the village hall and will provide changing rooms for home and away teams as well as match officials.

Funding has been boosted by a £34,000 National Lottery Sports England grant as well as £10,000 from Gloucestershire County Council's Active Together Fund.

Charities and generous residents made up the rest of the cash.

The facilities are being built by Davis & Sons, based in Stroud, and will be officially opened on Sunday, November 15.

Val Flack, secretary of the village hall community group, said: "The current facilities are too small, the home team have to change on the stage at the village hall and the showers are archaic.

"Hopefully the new facilities will last for 20 or 30 years, they are much-needed."
