LEADER of the Green Party Natalie Bennett will be visiting Stroud later this month to speak at a discussion about electoral reform.

As a strong advocate of proportional representation, she will be the main speaker at the event at Lansdown Hall, which will focus on a move towards an alternative voting system.

The speakers will examine three topics - why do we need it? what are the options? and how do we get it?

Sarah Lunnon, county councillor and Green Party candidate for Stroud at the 2015 general election, is chairing the event on Wednesday October 28.

Other speakers include Richard Wilson, who stood locally as a candidate for the MyStroud MP 2015 campaign and has worked for many years on democratic participation, Rob Telford from the Electoral Reform Society and Cllr Brian Oosthuysen, Stroud Labour Party.

Despite more than a million people voting for the Greens in 2015 the party secured only one MP, prompting strong calls for electoral reform.

Admission is free and all are invited. 7.30pm-9.30pm.
