THIEVES in Dursley hid in the back of a moving delivery lorry and stole a ‘significant amount’ of cigarettes and tobacco while the vehicle was purposely blocked off at a roundabout.

Unknown offender/s climbed into the rear of the lorry while it was unloading at a supermarket on Roseberry Road, Dursley at 2.35pm on October 3.

However, the driver shut his van and drove off not realising the offender/s were on board.

The man was driving on to his next delivery point along Kingshill Road, Dursley when he was forced to stop at a roundabout near the turning for Blackboys.

A green or blue Renault Megane Scenic pulled in front of him, causing him to stop.

There was also a second vehicle, believed to be a black Audi A5, behind the delivery lorry.

While the lorry was stopped the driver became aware that his rear door was open and he found that a substantial amount of tobacco and cigarettes had been stolen.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen this happen, either at the supermarket on Roseberry Road or on Kingshill Road.

In particular, details and descriptions of the offender/s getting into or out of the lorry; the vehicles involved, including registration numbers, and any descriptions of people in these vehicles.

Please call 101 quoting Incident Number 246 of October 3.
