UKIP Stroud has elected Stuart Love as its new branch chairman.
Mr Love was the party's candidate in last year's Valley ward by election for Stroud District Council.
Stuart Adair, county chairman of UKIP Gloucestershire, said: "We are delighted that UKIP Stroud have chosen Stuart Love as their new Branch chairman.
"Stuart is well known in the Stroud Valleys both for his work for charities such as the Royal British Legion, and as a campaigner on local issues."
UKIP came third in the General Election in Stroud behind Labour and the Conservatives.
Stuart Love said: "As a resident of Stroud for many years it is a great honour and privilege to have become chairman of UKIP Stroud.
"UKIP is here to stay, and is growing in each and every part of the Stroud district.
"We have got a fantastic base of support here, and this will continue to grow, in particular with regards to the Say No to EU Referendum campaign and the forthcoming visit of Nigel Farage to Gloucester on November 9."
UKIP leader Nigel Farage will be speaking at a public meeting at GL1 Leisure Centre, Gloucester on Monday, November 9 at 7 pm.
