A CAFE bar in Cirencester has had its proposals to build a rooftop terrace dismissed for a second time by Cirencester Town Council as it believes the changes will create noise disturbance in the town.
MacKenzies Cafe Bar on Castle Street, which is currently closed for business, wishes to create the pitched roof structure and make other changes to the building such as creating a roof level escape stair and a glazed balustrade.
Earlier this year Cirencester Town Council planning committee said it could not recommend the plans for approval as it thought that the balustrade was unsuitable because they believed that the noise created by customers congregating in it would be excessive.
Since then Mackenzies put together new plans for the terrace which have amended drawings.
On Thursday October 8 the new proposals were examined by the committee but councillors still felt creating the terrace would create too much noise and voted against supporting the proposals.
Planning committee member, Jenny Hincks said: “You cannot have a roof terrace there. My main complaint is just noise.”
