THE Mayor of Stroud joined local retirees for the grand opening of the brand new show complex at McCarthy and Stone’s Stroudwater Court development.

Mayor Kevin Cranston was on hand to perform the ceremonial ribbon cutting at the development on Cainscross Road, while guests took advantage of the first opportunity to take a tour of the fully furnished show apartments whilst enjoying a complimentary glass of bubbly.

The Mayor said: "It was a pleasure to mark the show complex opening at Stroudwater Court and to see so many familiar faces from the local community.

“Living independently and securely is incredibly important at any age, and I'm glad that developments like this one in Stroud will provide retirees with a number of options in which they can make the most of their retirement years."

Designed to complement the local architecture, Stroudwater Court presents a collection of 32 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments for the over 60s, with the second phase of apartments to be released following the launch of the show complex.

Debby Pavitt, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone, commented: “Our aim is to help older people stay independent for longer and really make the most of their retirement and we’re delighted that Stroudwater Court has already proved so popular.

“The development has not surprisingly attracted significant interest from local purchasers looking to downsize, but also from people coming from further afield who are drawn to idyllic retirement lifestyle on offer here in Stroud.

“We’ve celebrated a number of events at the development recently, including a professionals lunch where we welcomed representatives from a range of local businesses.

“We’re very thankful to Mayor Kevin Cranston for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit our new development and are honoured that he was there to mark the opening of our stunning show apartments, which highlight the modern designs and luxurious surroundings that can be enjoyed by all homeowners.

“We’re urging anyone interest in securing one of these apartments for themselves to come along to our brand new show complex and take a look around, or get in touch without delay.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living developments are designed to offer homeowners independent living within a safe and secure environment, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when they want it and privacy when they need it.

Facilities at Stroudwater Court include a homeowners’ lounge ideal for socialising with friends, landscaped decking in which to relax and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay.

The development also benefits from a house manager, who will ensure the smooth running of the development, a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points for added peace of mind for both homeowners and their families.
