PLANS to improve flood defences have been backed by Cirencester Town Council.
Mr Sykes, who lives on Donside in Cirencester, wishes to complete engineering works to increase capacity of existing flood channel on land between the back of Donside and Gloucester Road and to reprofile the land.
At the Cirencester Town Council planning committee meeting on September 8, councillors voted in favour of the proposals because they felt that flooding is an issue in the town and defences needed improving.
Stuart Tarr said: “I just think it is one of those things that need to be done. We don’t want to shoot ourselves in the foot, we have flood issues and we have enough issues getting them (groups involved in flood relief schemes in the town) to do anything.”
