AN energetic group of Julia’s House care staff, volunteers and supporters, took part in a 100k hospice to hospice cycle ride from Dorset to Wiltshire.

The mammoth bike ride went from the charity’s Dorset hospice in Corfe Mullen to Devizes, which is to be the home of the new Wiltshire children’s hospice.

The event was to raise awareness of the care Julia’s House already offers Wiltshire families with life-limited children, as well as testing a potential route for an annual large-scale cycling fundraiser.

The Julia’s House team included three Wiltshire nurses as well as the mum of one of the first children to benefit from care in Wiltshire.

Ian Wadley, the Wiltshire Fundraising Manager, said: “The event was a big success. All the cyclists were brilliant and it was lovely to be able to involve one of our Wiltshire families.

“It was particularly great to see our amazing care staff Ali, Hannah, Claire, Laura and Maria taking part and again demonstrating the tremendous dedication, passion and energy they put into their work at Julia’s House.

“We would also like to thank Red Skye Cycle Tours, Morgan Sindall, Salisbury Cathedral and The Black Swan, Devizes for supporting what we hope will be the first of many hospice to hospice cycle rides.”
