A SPECIAL musical event in Stroud will raise money for Pudsey and Children in Need.
Gifted Stroud musician Sue Edwards will be giving the public a chance to play her autoharp, a beautiful musical string instrument.
The event will be held at Mr Twitchett’s Cafe in the Subscription Rooms in Stroud from 2pm to 11pm on Friday November 13.
There will be a number of Pudsey-inspired children's games to raise money for charity.
A choral singer for many years, Sue has been playing the instrument since 1995 and writing her own songs for the last 18 years.
As a member of UKAutoharps, she has played in venues across the country and in the US.
She said: “After hearing a busker playing in Stroud in 1995, I was smitten with the sound and was determined to get myself one of these beautiful instruments.
“Now I really enjoy showing others how to start playing; giving talks with demonstrations, individual taster sessions and basic beginner tuition.
“It’s a really fascinating instrument to play. Come and have a go yourself.”
Autoharps have a series of chord bars attached to dampers, which, when depressed, mute all of the strings other than those that form the desired chord.
The event will also include a raffle, which will cost £1 a ticket. All proceeds are being donated to Children in Need.
Sue’s friends from UKAutoharps will be joining her for some musical entertainment later in the evening.
