A MAN has been charged following an assault on a police officer in Cheltenham.
Police were called shortly after 4am on Wednesday, October 7 to Witcombe Place to reports of a man banging on a window and kicking a door of a property.
Officers attended the incident promptly and the man made off from them on foot. He attempted to hide in Sandford Park, but officers located him on Bath Road at around 4.20am.
The man resisted arrest and assaulted a male police officer by punching him in the face. The police officer sustained minor facial injuries.
Damian Ford, aged 26, of St James Street in Cheltenham has been charged with assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty in connection with the incident.
He has been bailed until Friday, October 23 to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court.
