GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S fireworks displays and bonfires will be lighting up the county’s skies in October and November, so the SNJ has compiled a list of all the events taking place over the next few weeks.

First on the list is a Stroud favourite – the Five Valleys Firework Display.

Formerly known as the Ebley Firework Display this event is jointly organized by the Rotary clubs of Stroud, Nailsworth and Stonehouse.

Taking place on Monday October 26, the event is being held on Marling School Field in Stroud and will feature a funfair, bonfire and fireworks.

Attractions include John Coneleys Fun Fair, food, drink and for the second year following by poplar demand a covered area for the under12s to enjoy a variety of art and creative activities free of charge.

The amazing display is designed and choreographed to music by current British Firework Champions of Champions, Star Fireworks.

This year’s fireworks display is in part choreographed to the new James Bond Film Spectre’s theme song Writing on the Wall by Sam Smith.

Profits go to support local good causes and charities with at least half the profits directed towards young people in acknowledgement that the event originally started at Ebley Children’s Home.

Next on this list is Bisley’s Bonfire and Firework Spectacular, which takes place the weekend after on Saturday November 7.

The renowned annual bonfire and fireworks spectacular will be held on the George V Playing Fields in Van Der Breen Street in Bisley, and is organised by the Bisley Bluecoat Primary School PTA.

Gates open at 5.30pm and the fireworks display is scheduled to start at 7pm.

Delicious food, real ales, mulled wine and glow in the dark toys will all be available.

Tickets are available in advance from George Stores in Bisley, priced £4 per adult, £2 per child and £10 for a family. Pre-schoolers are free of charge. Tickets on the gate are £4.50, £2.50 and £12.

Minchinhampton fireworks night will also take place on the Saturday at the village school.

Local families can head to Stroud for another impressive display of fireworks set to light up the skies this autumn, alongside a brilliant bonfire.

On the same evening is Kemble Primary School Bonfire and Fireworks Night, with an amazing fireworks display set to music that will last approx 20 minutes and a bonfire finale.

There will also be a BBQ, licensed bar, snacks and refreshments, glow merchandise for sale and a mini children’s' disco all under the cover of a large marquee.

This event will be held at Kemble School, School Road, Kemble, Cirencester. Advance tickets are on sale from either Kemble Primary School or Kemble Post Office.

Next is Wotton Firework Display, taking place on WCSF Sports Field, New Road, Wotton-under-Edge on Saturday 7 November.

Gates open 6.30pm. Initial firework display 7.15pm Bonfire lighting 7.30pm and main firework display at 8.15pm.

One of the larger events is Gloucester Docks Big Bang Fireworks Festival.

Renowned as one of the best firework displays in the south west, Gloucester Docks Fireworks Festival will be illuminating the night sky above the famous Gloucester Docks once again with an amazing firework spectacular, organised by the Gloucester Round Table.

Lots of family fun is guaranteed with fantastic firework illuminations and pyrotechnics ensuring a great evening of entertainment.

The festival, which starts at 5.30pm, will include a funfair, hot food, refreshments, live music, market stalls with bonfire night treats.

Advance tickets available from Tourist Information Centre or Gloucester Waterways Museum.

To rival the Gloucester display on Saturday evening is the firework display at Cheltenham Racecourse, which last year attracted crowds of more than 15,000 people.

In addition to a spectacular firework display there will be the following to keep the crowd entertained prior to what promises to be a colourful extravaganza.

The racecourse location offers a natural amphitheatre for the display itself as well as ensuring that spectators can safely watch the event from hard standing and in some areas under cover of the Grandstand.

All profits from the event will be donated to local deserving good causes and charities, including the Midland Air Ambulance.

The gates are open at 5pm and the display is scheduled to start at 7pm. Tickets on the gate £6 adult £4 child, £12 family ticket.
