TWO men pretending to be water board officials stole £150 from a pensioner after tricking their way into her home in Tarlton, Cirencester.

The men knocked on a 75-year-old woman’s door and claimed  they were from the council and told her they needed to go into her home as it was at risk of flooding.

After she let the pair in, they asked the woman to remove items from underneath her kitchen sink and while she did this one of them  went upstairs.

Afterwards, the two men left the house quickly and the woman then realised that £150 had been stolen from her home.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police   Abigail Hartley, said: "Residents are urged to challenge those who claim to be from public authorities and to not let anyone into their homes they are suspicious of. "

Both of the men were white, one was aged between 35 and 45, of a medium build and  around 5 foot 6. He was wearing a black woolly hat, black quilted jacket, black trousers and black leather look slip on shoes.

The other was  described as aged between 25 and 30, of a thin build, around 5 foot 10 and  wearing a black woolly hat, black jumper, black trousers and a black scarf covering his face.

The woman asked to see a form of identification from the men before letting them in but they made an excuse and stressed the urgency of potential flooding.

If you recognise the men call police on 101 quoting incident 367 of Tuesday, November 10.
