OFFICERS at Cotswold District Council provide residents with a wide range of services which are at the heart of helping local communities.

These functions are rarely highlighted in the public domain, but social media users were offered an insight into many aspects of CDC’s work when the Council participated in the Local Government Association’s #OurDay twitter campaign on Wednesday, November 18.

The twitter campaign gave users a chance to learn more about many of the Council’s functions and how CDC interacts with other partners and agencies, including the following postings: The council collects approx. 500 bulky waste items a month! In Sept we #recycled 3.95 tons & re-used 1.1 tons! # Our @CDCElections team have emailed 400off-campus @RoyalAgUni students today asking them to #RegisterToVote Our Pest Control Officer is treating wasps, rats & squirrels today. We've visited 670 properties since April The 2020 Vision team working towards saving @CheltenhamBC @CotswoldDC @FoDDC @WodcNews £39 million by 2024 We've dealt with 144 lost/found #dogs this year, it will be law for all dogs in England to be chipped by April 16 Our joint waste company Ubico have collected waste and #recycling from 8,000 properties today and will do it all again tomorrow.

Leader at CDC , Councillor Lynden Stowe, was very pleased with the outcome: "#OurDay 2015 enabled us to highlight the range of valued services that we, together with our partners, deliver to people across the Cotswolds. This twitter campaign provided us with a platform to focus on the tasks carried out by some of our officers, as well as providing some useful insights into the impact of our work on the community.

“Councils make a real difference, but much of what we do is out of sight. #OurDay was a chance to demonstrate the range of our influence and to give some of our officers a well-deserved pat on the back as well.”
