A COFFEE morning at Del’s Motorcycles and Tyres in Cirencester raised over £850 for Macmillan Cancer Support in just four hours.

Pulled pork, BBQ, cakes, coffees and teas were on the menu at the motorcycle service and repair shop based just outside of Cirencester in Preston.

It is the second time they have run the coffee morning and it made £100 more than last year’s event.
Kelly Smith organised the first charity coffee morning at Del’s and was happy to see it well supported again this year.

“Around 100 people turned up in total,” she said.

“We had a fantastic amount of support especially from the Swindon motorcycle group Pinkertons.”
It is the second time the chosen charity for the event has been Macmillan, a cause close to Kelly’s heart.

“My mum was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago, and my aunt had it, so it’s a family thing really. These coffee mornings are us trying to give something back really.

“Recently my husband’s grandfather was looked after by Macmillan, so it’s affected both sides of the family.”

Derek Say, owner of Del’s, was glad to be supporting a worthy cause and impressed with the turnout at the event.

“A lot of people came from all over,” he said.

“We put the message out on Facebook and let all our customers know it was going on.

“We’ll see if we can improve on the total next year.”

Kelly has said that the money donated to the coffee morning next year will be divided between Macmillan and a local charity or cause.
