FORMER child star Mark Lester, who famously played Oliver in the hit 1968 film, is opening a Christmas fayre in Quedgeley on Saturday.
Mark, who now runs an acupuncture clinic in Cheltenham, is the guest of honour at the St James’ Church festive bazaar which is being held at Quedgeley Community Centre in School Lane from 2pm. There will be plenty of stalls including arts, crafts, bric-a-brac plus raffles and tombolas and Santa is rumoured to be planning a visit.
Parish priest Fr John Ward said: “It will be an opportunity to pick up a Christmas bargain, have a flutter on one of the raffles or buy a few tasty cakes. While some churches face closure, we are fortunate not to be in this situation yet but we mustn’t be complacent.”
Proceeds will go towards the church.
