THRUPP Primary School in Stroud has been recognised for its outstanding teaching on international subjects in the classroom.

It was announced this week that the school had been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award.

The award is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas.

Thrupp’s international work includes link projects with our partner schools in India and France as well as school and cluster events celebrating language and culture around the world.

“I am thrilled that our hard work and commitment has been recognized,” said Donna Mylechreest, International School coordinator the school.

“We work hard to ensure our pupils understand about the wider world and take part in a range of projects to broaden their understanding outside of our immediate community.

“The children as well as having close links with India and France have explored through art, sport and culture. It is wonderful to receive this award and will drive us to do even more.”

British Council chief executive, Sir Ciarán Devane, said: ‘The school’s fantastic international work has rightfully earned it this prestigious award.

“The International School Award is a great chance for schools to demonstrate the important work they’re doing to bring the world into their classrooms.

“Adding an international dimension to children’s education ensures that they are truly global citizens and helps prepare them for successful future careers in an increasingly global economy.”
