A PACKED open day was held on Romilly Road last week to celebrate the official reopening of the refurbished hall used by Tenth Barry Guides.
Vale MP Alun Cairns joined the Guides for the open day in the fully refurbished hall on Romilly Road in Barry after over £27,000 of work was completed over the summer.
A major "Save our Hall" campaign was launched last year and many local organisations supported the fundraising effort for new flooring, equipment and full kitchen facilities for community use.
The Guides lit candles to commemorate the reopening, which was attended by a number of parents and group leaders. The group is also set to benefit from a donation by local charity The Waterloo Foundation which is supporting the final fundraising efforts to secure a new roof on the hall.
Mr Cairns said: “The newly refurbished hall looks fantastic and all the girls are very pleased with the new facilities.
"The group leaders have worked so hard to raise so much money for the hall. The final challenge now is to secure the final funding for a new roof and encourage more local businesses to get involved in a club that does so much in Barry.”
