I SEE "our" (East Yorkshire) MP Greg Knight is one of the self-serving MPs who voted for the Private Member's Bill to exempt themselves from the Freedom Of Information Act.

He, and all the other MPs who voted for this exemption, should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for doing so.

Ask them why they voted this shameful Bill through and they will, in all probability, tell you it is so that correspondence between them and their constituents "can't fall into the hands of criminals or the BNP".

This is palpable rubbish as the 2005 FOI (Freedom Of Information) Act does not allow the publication of letters containing personal data.

Their real reason is to stop we, the people who pay their wages, from being able to see, via the FOI, the vast amounts of money they annually cream-off in expenses and which can add very considerably to their already more-than-fair salaries.

How Britain dare lecture Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries on the advantages of democracy when our own democratically-elected Members of Parliament vote for this most undemocratic Private Member's Bill is a question that poses its own answer.
