  • Stonehouse WI. At the first meeting this year this evening, Wednesday, January 20, we will briefly discuss the shortlist of resolutions to go forward to the NFWI AGM.   • Savvy Seniors Cinema Club meets every Monday at 11am at the Vue Cinema in Stroud. Next Monday, January 25 - Suffragette, a historical period drama starring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne-Marie Duff and Meryl Streep as Emeline Pankhurst. This was the first film in history to be shot in the Houses of Parliament. Use your bus pass to travel into Stroud and for just £3.29 you’ll enjoy good company a film and a cuppa and a biscuit.   • The Friendly Circle meets this Friday, January 22 in the Stonehouse Community Centre. Come along and enjoy good company and entertainment.
  • Cotswold AONB Wardens’ Walks in and around Stroud. Monday, January 25 from Haillmill Lane, Wortley to Kilcott Valley and Ozleworth Bottom – a five mile walk taking three hours.   • The Stroud Valleys Music Club resumes its season at 7.30pm in St Joseph’s Church Hall, Stonehouse on Wednesday, January 27. There will be a musical quiz prepared by two of the Club members. Visitors will be welcome. Call 01453 826676 for details.
  • Stonehouse Library Baby Bounce and Rhyme and Bookstart Bear sessions are back. Every Wednesday at 10.30 – 11am during school term time. Stonehouse library is there for everyone – there is a Home Library Service and why not let us promote community group or charity events. The building is also available as a venue for meetings.   • Stonehouse Pensioners Club. Come and meet old friends and make new ones by joining the Stonehouse pensioners club. We meet alternate Wednesdays at the Stonehouse Community Centre at 2pm.   • The Citizens Advice Bureau has an advice worker available in the town hall every Thursday from 10am to 1pm. No need for an appointment – just drop-in. An advice worker is also available in the APT community shop on the Park Estate on Thursday afternoons from 1pm.
  • Short Mat Bowling Club at the Douglas Morley Hall is open to all interested bowls players. They meet every Tuesday and Friday afternoons between 2pm and 4.30pm. Potential new members of all ages are very welcome to come along and give it a go free of charge for the first two sessions. Equipment will be provided but flat soled shoes must be worn.
