  • The Stroud Valleys Music Club resumes its season at 7.30pm in St Joseph’s Church Hall, Stonehouse this evening Wednesday, January 27. There will be a musical quiz prepared by two of the Club members. Visitors will be welcome. Call 01453 826676 for details.
  • Stonehouse Horticulture Committee meets this evening at 6pm Wednesday January 27 in the Town Hall.
  • This Saturday, January 30, Stonehouse Methodist Church are holding a coffee and cake morning. Just £2 to include a hot drink and cake. Everyone is welcome. Doors open at 10am.
  • Savvy Seniors Cinema Club meets every Monday at 11am at the Vue Cinema in Stroud. Next Monday, February 1: The Walk. In 1974, high wire artist Phillippe Petit recruits a ream of people to help him realize his dream: to walk the immense void between the World Trade Centre Towers.   • The Friendly Circle meets this Friday, January 22 in the Stonehouse Community Centre. Come along and enjoy good company and entertainment.
  • Cotswold AONB Wardens’ Walks in and around Stroud. Friday, February 5: meet at the Kings Head pub King’s Stanley for a six mile walk to Coaley Park taking about four hours. Dress up warmly! Additional details can be found on escapetothecotswolds.org.uk/walking/guided-walks/
  • Want to get out on a bike but not sure how to do it? Stonehouse Wheelers is a family friendly Cycling Club and always welcomes new cyclists. If you are new to cycling why not get in touch with the Secretary Roy Jones on 01453 298759. They organise a range of rides, on Sunday afternoons, to cater for the ambitious and the not-so ambitious.   • Friday night is bingo night in Stonehouse Community Centre starting at 7pm.

  • Stonehouse Gardening Club We meet for the first time this year next Wednesday, February 3 at 7.30pm in the Community Centre. Rachel Salisbury is joining us to give a talk entitled: Gardening on a Shoestring.
  • Live at the Magpies Social Club. Saturday February 13 from 7.30pm until late: The Usual Suspects. Not to be missed.
  • Slow Yoga on Wednesdays from 9.45 – 11am in Leonard Stanley. For information about these classes, aimed at keeping older people supple contact John on 01453 791848.
  • Stonehouse Library Baby Bounce and Rhyme and Bookstart Bear sessions are back. Every Wednesday at 10.30 – 11am during school term time. Stonehouse library is there for everyone – there is a Home Library Service and why not let us promote community group or charity events. The building is also available as a venue for meetings.   • Stonehouse Pensioners Club. Come and meet old friends and make new ones by joining the Stonehouse pensioners club. We meet alternate Wednesdays at the Stonehouse Community Centre at 2pm.   • Shopping in Stonehouse and in need of refreshment then why not pop in to the ‘Pop In’ in the Community Centre. It is open Monday Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 9.30am and 11.30am. And should you have some spare time they are in need of volunteers so if you think you have an odd hour or two and could help then contact Pam Hurlston on 01453 825150.
  • The Citizens Advice Bureau has an advice worker available in the Town Hall every Thursday from 10am to 1pm. No need for an appointment – just drop-in. An advice worker is also available in the APT community shop on the Park Estate on Thursday afternoons from 1pm.
  • Short Mat Bowling Club at the Douglas Morley Hall is open to all interested bowls players. They meet every Tuesday and Friday afternoon between 2pm and 4.30pm. Potential new members of all ages are very welcome to come along and give it a go free of charge for the first two sessions. Equipment will be provided but flat soled shoes must be worn.   • Bus Passes. These can be applied for at Stonehouse Library. They are then posted to applicant.
  • King's Stanley Parish Council now has a Parish Office in the Village Hall open every Monday from 9.30-11am. Please note new opening times.
