NEARLY 50 artists have donated works for an art auction in aid of refugees which is set to take place at the end of the month.

The event, which is being co-ordinated by SVA, will see professional auctioneers lead the bidding on Saturday, February 27, at 6pm.

Dozens are expected to gather at 20 High Street – the former Millet’s shop - in Stroud to try and snap up an original piece or two.

All the money raised on the evening will go to voluntary organisation Refugee Aid Stroud, which has been co-ordinating relief efforts to refugees in Calais and beyond over the past few months.

Artists to have donated art works include Antony Gormley, John Wood & Paul Harrison, Cleo Mussi, Dan Rawlings, Oliver Marsden, Juliet Chadwick, Marcus Walters, Colin Glen, Alex Merry.

Pieces up for grabs include paintings, prints and sculptures.

Stroud News and Journal:

“We’ve got a great selection of work,” said SVA’s Briony Wilson-Fforde.

“I’m really excited about seeing it all together and hopefully raising lots of money for a great cause.”

The artworks in the sale can be viewed in advance at the old Millets shop from Saturday.

The auction exhibition will run until February 27, opening on Fridays and Saturdays, from 10am to 4pm.

Catalogues will be available online and from the old Millets shop.

Bids can be made prior to the sale, at the venue, or by email: rosa@sva.org.uk

There is also an option to 'live bid' on-line from the comforts of your sofa via www.cotswoldauction.co.uk
