FOR someone who relishes the challenge of working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the advertising department of the SNJ is the ideal place for an ambitious self-starter.

Working in advertising is ‘perfect’ for someone with an appetite for competition, as 28-year-old telephone sales executive Natalie Button found out.

“Having targets to work towards is motivating and reaching those targets and getting the bonuses is incredibly rewarding – and if I can do it then it must be achievable,” said Natalie.

“We have a lot of fun in the office and team work is key, although the targets are individual.”

For multimedia sales executive Steve Barrett, 53, though, satisfaction in the role comes from knowing the advertising campaign he has overseen for a customer has been a success.

He said: “Although I enjoy the challenge of targets I love finding the link between what the customers want and need.

“I want businesses to show themselves in the best possible light in all forms of advertising as the world is changing, taking the industry with it.

“It is important to make sure that companies get their name out there on a regular basis so it’s about brand marketing as well.”

Steve has been part of the advertising team for almost a year. He is back in Stroud after 25 years in Cornwall, with 15 years of sales behind him.

Commenting on the skills the position demands Natalie said: “The job is ideal for somebody with stamina and focus who likes a challenge and variety, or for someone who can use their own initiative and who enjoys the freedom of directing themselves.

“I’ve worked here for nearly four years having come from a customer service background with some selling experience.”
