CHILDREN from two primary schools in London made green hearts at Wick Court Farm in Arlingham for Valentine’s Day.

Green hearts were the symbol of the Show the Love campaign, which encouraged people of all ages and backgrounds to take action to protect people, places and wildlife from climate change.

Wick Court is a farm run by Farms for City Children, a charity founded by children’s author Michael Morpurgo.

The charity offers children from cities all over the country an opportunity to spend time on a real farm in the heart of the countryside.

Organised by The Climate Coalition, a group of more than 100 organisations including Christian Aid, RSPB, the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, the National Trust, the Women’s Institute and Oxfam, Show The Love is calling for world leaders to shift to 100 per cent clean energy within a generation.

The children from Holbeach Primary and Robin Hood Primary decided to take part in the campaign to raise awareness of the things they love but could lose to climate change.

People and organisations across the country, from the WI to Premier League football clubs, wore green hearts as part of a campaign to encourage people to think, and start conversations, about what they love that climate change threatens — the tea in our cups, the fields we play in, the changing seasons and generations to come.

Christian Aid head of advocacy Laura Taylor said: “We can tackle climate change if we all work together.

“Time is short but 100 per cent clean energy is well within our reach.

“Now is the time to show the collective power of love, to work with governments and businesses to do all they can, and to protect everything that we hold dear.”

The Show The Love campaign’s inspirational film, I Wish For You..., is written by Michael Morpurgo and stars actors Jeremy Irons and Maxine Peake.

The music is written by Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman.
