A WOMAN who died after being hit by a car while crossing the A38 at Claypits has been named locally as Sue Colcombe, 81, of Frampton-on-Severn. 

The 81-year-old, who is understood to have lived with her son in Oatfield Road, Frampton, was hit by a car in a serious crash on the A38 near Eastington at around 11.50am.

Flowers have been laid at the scene of the crash today.

She was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.

She was hit by a Suzuki Swift as she was crossing the road with her bike.

The driver of the car, a woman, has been arrested on suspicion of driving over the drug limit.

Tributes have already been pouring in for Ms Colcombe on social media. 

One woman wrote: "Such sad news. Sue had such a lovely character and it amazed me that, no matter the weather, she biked to Eastington and back."

Another wrote: "She was such a wonderful lovely character and will be sadly missed."

One commented: "She was such lovely lady, very sad news to hear this."

Another said: "So sad. May she rest in peace."
