POLICE are continuing to investigate a fatal crash in Nympsfield yesterday.

A 46-year-old Dursley man, named locally as Simon Lea, died after the Nissan Cabstar pick-up truck he was driving collided with an articulated HGV in Bath Road at around 3.20pm.

Mr Lea worked as a driver for Elcombe Fire & Wood in Stroud.

The 55-year-old man who was driving the lorry was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious chest injuries and remains in a stable condition.

The road was closed for nearly ten hours while a collision investigation took place and the vehicles were recovered.

It reopened shortly after 1am today.

Anyone who witnessed the collision but hasn't spoken to police should call 101 and quote incident 253 of 25 April.
