A POSITIVE vision for Britain’s place within the EU – that will be the case made at a special event hosted by Stroud in Europe next month.

The group, which is an offshoot of the official Stronger In campaign, will be holding their special question and answer session at the Old Town Hall in Stroud on Friday June 10.

Organisers say the event is particularly targeted at the “undecideds” – those voters have yet to make up their mind on which way to vote in the EU referendum on June 23.

Voters who want to hear more information about the case to ‘Remain’ will have a chance to put their questions to a diverse panel.

Representing the political argument for an IN vote are Conservative MP Neil Carmichael and Cheltenham’s Liberal Democrat MP from 2001 till 2015.

They will be joined by Sarah Lunnon Green Party county councillor for Stroud Central, and Labour’s Mark Hubbard.

Steve Dechan, who owns Stroud medical device company Platform 14, will put across the business view for avoiding a Brexit.

While Stroud High School politics student Jenny Coates will be giving voicing the argument of youth.

Rather than a debate, the audience will put their questions to the speakers, who will all make their best case for Britain to stay in the EU.

The event, Why Remain in the EU, will start at 6.30pm. To guarantee a seat at the meeting please email stroudineu@gmail.com Stroud In Europe describes itself as ‘a positive, grassroots, local, non-party-political movement to campaign for the UK to remain a member of the EU’.

”We are made up of a group of local residents who are generally not members of any political party but have a common conviction that we are, as a nation, better off, safer and more influential as member of the European Union,” explained Aidan Dunsdon.

“Although we are affiliated to the Britain Stronger in Europe national campaign, we have tried to engage with local Stroud area issues, businesses and the community.

“We have run regular street stalls and the surrounding district where we have highlighted the views of local people on the benefits of staying in the EU and the risks of leaving.”
