NATURE-LOVERS are being given the opportunity to learn more about the butterflies and moths of Bisley Road Cemetery.

Stroud Valleys Project are working with Adult Education Gloucestershire to hold the sessions at the nature reserve, which is managed by Stroud Town Council.

Participants to two events will learn all about the butterflies and moths that inhabit the site.

The session will be led by Sue Smith, Chair of the Gloucestershire branch of Butterfly Conservation, and will look at butterflies, their larval plants and their nectar sources.

The moth session will be led by Bob Smith from the Gloucestershire branch of Butterfly Conservation. He will point out some of the moths that are night visitors to the reserve.

People will learn about their lifecycles and behaviour, and how to encourage moths into their garden at home.

CEO of Stroud Valleys Project, Clare Mahdiyone said: “A big thank you to Sue and Bob Smith from Butterfly conservation who are working with us to deliver these Adult Education courses.

“All the participants will learn more about butterflies and moths, and especially ones at this site.”

Helen Bojaniwska, the clerk of Stroud Town Council said: “We are delighted to be working with these partners again so that the public can learn about butterflies and moths at Bisley Road Cemetery.

“This work will help to compile a species list for this very important Local Nature Reserve.”

The month session will be held Friday June 10 from 9.30am-12.30pm.

This is followed by the Butterflies on Tuesday June 14 from 10am – 1pm.
