A STROUD-based food vlogger and health shop manager banded together to inspire people to eat organic breakfasts this morning.
Sharmila Dharmalingam, who has a YouTube channel broadcasting as Kitchenpundit, and Mel Hill, who runs Sunshine in Church Street, set up their stall offering organic flapjacks.
They were taking part in a nationwide campaign, Wake Up To Organic, to get people in the UK to make the switch to organic breakfasts.
Ray Hill, owner of the health food store, said: “Our ethos is about supplying high quality but affordable food, and I have always firmly believed in organic products.
“This campaign shows how simple it is to make the change to an organic breakfast.”
Sharmila added: “We spoke to lots of customers about the benefits of organic food and I also swapped tips and tricks to help people see how easy it is to make a healthy breakfast.”
She also filmed a new recipe for Wake Up To Organic, showing viewers how to make healthy breakfast milkshakes.
Recent studies indicate that the UK is increasingly interested in choosing organic - sales of organic products increased by 4.9 per cent last year and organic sales via independent stores grew by 7.5 per cent.
This is significant growth in a year when overall spending on food fell.
The duo were offering the flapjack samples to people from 9.30am-12noon today.
