CROWDS lined the streets of London for clergyman Arthur Stanton’s funeral in 1913.
Father Stanton was born and grew up in Stroud before moving to Holborn, London, where he was a priest at St Alban’s church for 50 years.
St Alban’s church, in Parliament Street, Stroud, was built in his memory and is this year celebrating its 100th anniversary.
The church was built as a memorial to Father Stanton, after the St Laurence's Church Council set up a committee to raise money for the building in 1913.
In a recent weekend of celebrations to mark the milestone, Richard Stanton visited St Alban's in Stroud to give a talk about his relative's life.
