TWO London College of Music students are organising a ‘Night at the Musicals’ in Stroud following the success of last year’s event.

Ex-Archway pupils, Molly-May Kent from Stroud and Callum Paul from Quedgeley, will be holding the fundraising event at the Subscription Rooms on Friday, July 15.

It follows a hugely successful event last August in memory of Molly’s godfather, the well-known Stroud District and Nailsworth Town councillor Paul Carter, who died of cancer in 2014.

Last year over £2,000 was raised for the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice and Longfield, which both cared for Mr Carter after he was diagnosed with the disease.

This year’s event has a cast of eight performers, four of whom will be travelling from The London College of Music to take part.

The Night at the Musicals this year will include hits from famous West End shows to commemorate Paul’s love of musicals.

These will include The Bodyguard, Wicked, Mary Poppins, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, Grease, Chicago and many more.

All proceeds will go to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, in light of their recent flooding issues.

The event took place last year at the Whitminster Inn, but due to its popularity has moved to a larger venue at Stroud Subscription Rooms.

Tickets are £10 and available from www.subscriptionrooms.org.uk/whats-on/a-night-at-the-musicals/ or by calling Stroud Subscription rooms on 01453 760900.
