PUPILS at St Rose's in Stroud are looking forward to showcasing their talents when they perform their school play Around the World in 80 days.

The young actors and actresses will be performing Jules Verne’s famous 1873 play to parents on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 of July.

Assisted by the staff, students at the specialist school have taken total ownership of the production from choosing the music to painting the scenery.

Acting Principal Sheila Talwar said: "The play has focused on our topic for this term 'around the world' and is enabling our students to immerse themselves in bringing different elements that they have learned together in what will be a light hearted and entertaining manner.

“Taking part in productions such as this one is a big achievement for all our students.

“I think however they are most looking forward to sharing it all with their friends and family and letting those people dear to them see all of their hard work.

“We will be putting on two productions to which parents have been invited together with small groups from some of the local schools and colleges we have links with."

Participation in the play has provided opportunities for everyone to learn about different countries around the world in a way that is fun and very much hands on.

The play has been developed in such a way that it offers each individual student the opportunity to take part at their own level.

The production also has brought the whole school together and collectively they are learning from their peers too about working as one team.
