A CYCLIST was punched and pushed to the ground by a driver in a road rage incident in Woodchester.

A 29-year-old man was cycling along the A46 heading towards Nailsworth past The Fleece pub, when a black VW Golf overtook him.

The cyclist put up his hand to warn the driver that he needed to give more space when overtaking.

When they both reached the junction of the A46 and Selsley Road, the driver got out of the vehicle and swung a punch at the victim, hitting his helmet.

The driver then pushed the cyclist to the ground before driving off. 

Fortunately he was not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the incident between 11.55am and 12.15pm on Sunday 3 July is urged to call police on 101 quoting incident 375 of 6 July.
