EARLY-morning commuters missed out on their coffee fix this morning as Costa’s Stroud branch remains closed following a fire on Friday.
The coffee house, which is normally open at 7am on weekdays, saw customers turning away while staff continue to assess what still needs to be done before reopening.
“It breaks up my routine,” said Robert Burges, a freelance musician and maths tutor from Painswick.
“I’m having a day off and I like to start my day with a nice coffee at Costa.”
Firefighters tackled the blaze in the High Street, which started after an air conditioning unit caught light, in for about 30 minutes before they managed to extinguish it.
The sign on the door says that the shop will be closed until further notice.
