AN air ambulance is preparing to land near Asda in Quedgeley after a woman sustained “possibly life threatening injuries” during a crash.
The helicopter was scrambled after a female driver collided with lorry near the turnoff to the supermarket on the A38 at around 2.40pm.
Fire crews are currently trying cutting a woman free from a car.
The A38 southbound has been completely closed while emergency services battle to free the seriously injured woman.
Fire crews are removing the roof of the car while paramedics wait on standby.
The crash happened between Kings Way and B4008 Bristol Road.
A police spokesman said: “The air ambulance has been called and will make a landing on the other side of Asda.
“The driver is thought to have sustained possibly life threatening injuries.”
The Southbound side of the road heading towards the Cross Keys roundabout has been closed following an accident near the supermarket.
Information about the age of the woman or the vehicle is not available yet.
