AN EPISODE of the BBC show Hugh’s War on Waste which was filmed at Maidenhill School is being aired on national television tonight.
The episode will showcase the work of the ground-breaking organisation Waste Not Stroud – which was set up after the show’s first season with the aim of addressing the issue of excess waste in the Stroud area.
As part of the series, celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is looking at community efforts around the country to reduce waste and increase recycling.
People brought along electrical items such as laptops, toasters, kettles, cameras and amplifiers for a team of five technicians to fix at the Stonehouse school for the filming of the episode on March 3.
The aim was to show that electrical items can often be fixed when people might otherwise throw them away.
The programme will be shown on BBC One, starting at 9pm.
