  • Stonehouse Horticulture Show and Jolly. Thank you to everyone who took part and joined in this annual event. Glorious weather, lots to do and look at made it all a very successful day.
  • Stonehouse R.B.L. Women’s Section.This Saturday August 20 in the Community Centre. Cream teas, stalls and raffle. From 2pm in aid of the Poppy Appeal.
  • Cotswold AONB Wardens’ Walks. Monday August 22 from the Carpenters Arms Easton Grey to Pinkey Park. A six mile walk taking four hours. All walks return to the starting point. For more information visit escapetothecotswolds.org.uk/
  • We have a growing population of hedgehogs in the area. Help A Hedgehog Hospital has been rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing hogs back into the Wild for the last eight years.   • Cycling4Health. If you own a bike and want to get back into the saddle come along to the Stonehouse Community Centre on Mondays at 12.30 for an hours gentle cycling. Info from the leader on 07896134333 or contact info@follow-my-leader.org.uk
  • Stonehouse Knitters. If you are one of the many who knit hats for Seafarers there is now a stock of donated wool. Thank you very much to the people who have kindly donated this. If you would like to join in and knit a hat the patterns are always available either from the Town Hall or I can put one in the post.
  • Parkrun Stonehouse now has its own Parkrun which takes place every Saturday at 9am on the football field, Oldend Lane. Last Saturday, the second run, saw 117 runners take part. It is very well organised and it is there for everyone – there is no charge. Just turn up and run or walk possibly with a dog. Great community event. Magpies have opened their doors and are now offering refreshments.
  • Stonehouse Crafty Stitchers Every Tuesday at APT Park Road at 7pm. Knitting crochet and sewing group. Open to all abilities – drop in and see what we do.
  • Savvy Seniors Cinema Club is taking a break. All being well it should start again in the Autumn. More information needed? Contact Jean Edwards 01453 825276.
  • Stonehouse Town Council Neighbourhood Development Plan sets out the community’s vision and priorities for the future of the town for the next 15 years. The plan is on online until August 12 and comments from all Stonehouse residents, businesses, shopkeepers and are welcome. This is your town and your opportunity to be involved in shaping its future.
  • Stonehouse Wheelers is a family friendly Cycling Club and always welcomes new cyclists. If you are new to cycling why not get in touch with the Secretary Roy Jones on 01453 298759.   • Friday night is bingo night in Stonehouse Community Centre starting at 7pm.
  • Slow Yoga on Wednesdays from 9.45–11am in Leonard Stanley. For information about these classes, aimed at keeping older people supple contact John on 01453 791848.

  • Sports facilities on the Laburnum Field. Have you seen the Outdoor Table Tennis Tables by the Community Centre? Alongside the Outdoor Gym equipment and Boules area are two tables. Who needs to go to a gym when you can use these facilities for free? And no dress code. Just turn up and keep fit.
  • Stonehouse History Group Sunday August 28 Canal Walk. Start 2pm at Stonehouse Court/Ocean and walk along the canal path. Return approx. 4pm for tea and cakes at Stonehouse Court.
  • King’s Stanley Did you know that there is an Outdoor Gym sited on the Marling Close Playing field with eleven pieces of equipment free for everyone to use.
  • Stonehouse Pensioners Club. Come and meet old friends and make new ones by joining the Stonehouse pensioners club. We meet alternate Wednesdays at the Stonehouse Community Centre at 2pm. Enjoy some entertainment, followed by tea, coffee and biscuits, we also have a raffle. All are welcome and for more info, please ring Pam 01453 825150.
