SCOTTISH singer songwriter Dean Owens performs at Woodchester's Convent this Saturday.

Trainspotting novelist Irvine Welsh is a big fan and has described Dean as "Scotland's most engaging and haunting singer songwriter".

His songs, including Raining in Glasgow and Man From Leith, have been hailed as classics of Scottish songwriting.

This summer sees him hit the road with headline shows at SummerTyne and Southern Fried festivals, opening spots for Gretchen Peters and Jason Isbell and a tour as special guest of triple Americana Music Association award winners Danny and the Champions of the World.

Dean’s popular Into the Sea CD is being reissued – on 30 Sep - as a Deluxe edition which includes 4 extra tracks, all recorded in Nashville, including his recent single Cotton Snow (recorded with Dave Coleman). The lead single will be Virginia Street, which Bob Harris declared to be “a really great song” and his favourite from the album.

Into the Sea was released on London based independent label Drumfire Records in May 2015 to rave reviews.

It was Album of the Week (BBC Radio Scotland’s Iain Anderson Show) and Dean was Scotland on Sunday’s Artist of the Week. It appeared on several Best of… lists at the end of the year, including #5 on the Sunday Herald Top 50.
